Ways to Participate in Black History Month

February is recognized as Black History Month in Canada. During this month and throughout the year, TD is honored to celebrate and uplift Black voices while creating opportunities for reflection, recognition, and understanding of our shared history as we strive together to make a positive impact for the future.

The Bank supports this mission by partnering with arts- and culture-focused community organizations through the TD Ready Commitment, which is the Bank’s corporate citizenship platform. Why? Because art and culture can be powerful means to highlight diverse stories and underrepresented perspectives.

If you want to get involved with Black History Month activities, we’ve put together a list of programs from various organizations supported by the TD Ready Commitment that are open to everyone in Canadian cities this February.

Included is “Transit In Time,” a free art exhibit happening at Union Station in Toronto that honors Black artists and their cultural legacy with support from TD Bank Group. Below you’ll find details about many cultural events along with descriptions provided by the organizations. Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture | February 21 & 22, 2025

Ethnik Festivals is a non-profit organization celebrating Afro-Canadian, Caribbean, and international cultures through lively art, music, and educational programs. The Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture (EFAC) 2025 marks an annual celebration for Black History Month that offers platforms for Afro-Canadian/Caribbean individuals and groups to showcase their rich cultural identities across Canada. This year’s festival features a variety of artistic performances, cultural art displays, and engaging discussions. Enjoy great food and art while connecting over music.

Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum: Black History Month Events | February 1-28, 2025

The museum will host several events throughout February including its annual African Canadian/Black History Month launch at Mac Kenzie Art Gallery on February 1 at 2 p. m., plus a wrap event hosted by the Lieutenant Governor on February 28. For more details check out the museum’s website.

Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton: Black History Month Celebration | February 1-28, 2025

The Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton provides a full month packed with activities for people of all ages from different backgrounds across Halton Region to honor Black History Month. Events feature local Black Caribbean and African professionals alongside community artists, authors, filmmakers, historians, and facilitators.
