Upon arrival, Oakville Fireplace Chief Paul Boissonneault says firefighters found that three folks had been trapped in {a partially} collapsed, roughly 10-foot-deep trench.

“2 people had been capable of self-extricate utilizing OFD tools, nonetheless a 3rd remained trapped,” mentioned Chief Boissonneault. “The trapped particular person had suffered a damaged leg and was additionally safely extricated by fireplace and transported by Halton EMS.”

Oakville Fireplace, assisted by the Mississauga Fireplace and Emergency Companies’ technical trench licensed crew, safely extricated the person. Halton Police and Halton EMS had been on scene and medics transported the injured individual, who was the one one taken to hospital.

Chief Boissonneault says the Ministry of Labour has been knowledgeable.

Sources on the scene say two of the folks had been rescued inside half-hour, however a 3rd male, who was trapped as much as close to his chest within the trench took virtually two hours.
