Oakville Priest Charged with Sexual Assault

A Catholic priest in Oakville, Ont. is facing a charge of sexual assault following an investigation.

According to Halton Regional Police Service, the inquiry started in February of this year after a woman alleged she was assaulted while volunteering at a church in Oakville.

This investigation led to the arrest of Rev. Ranjan D’Sa, who has been charged with one count of sexual assault.

D’Sa has been released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court in Milton, Ont. at a later date.

Police say that D’Sa has been part of the clergy since 2010 and has worked at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church in Oakville since 2016. Investigators are worried that there may be other victims and are urging anyone with information or who might have been affected by D’Sa to reach out to them.

As part of their investigation, police have shared a photo of D’Sa.

HRPS also want the public to know that there is no statute of limitations for sexual assault cases, which means incidents can still be reported regardless of when they occurred.
