Seven individuals from the Greater Toronto Area are facing charges, while two more are still at large after a police investigation uncovered that 10 cars worth nearly $375,000 were sold fraudulently through a Mississauga dealership.

According to Peel Regional Police’s fraud investigators, the vehicles, which included several SUVs, were about to be shipped overseas when they were found in Ontario.

The police claim that between January 30 and February 27, an employee at the Mississauga car dealership “utilized his position as a sales associate to facilitate the fraudulent transactions of 10 vehicles with an approximate value of $373,738.”

Investigators suspect that this employee organized these fraudulent deals, “enabling the other involved parties to obtain a variety of cars and SUVs.”

The first arrest related to this case occurred on April 29, followed by six additional arrests, according to police.

Ankur Bhatiani, 42 years old from Oakville, is facing charges for fraud over $5,000, using forged documents and possession of property obtained through crime.

Vialis-Aramis Curt, 30; Andreea Gabriela Pisla, 25; both from Brampton; Andreea Olivia Paulet, 24 from Richmond Hill; Daiana Ionela Necula, 25 from Scarborough; Ion Cristea, 40 from Toronto; and Ilarion Rupita, 34 from Oshawa are all charged with fraud over $5,000.

The accused have been released on undertakings and will appear in Brampton court at a later date.

The police have also issued warrants for Cristian Filip, 34 and Rafael Gabriel Chirita, 22 on charges of fraud over $5,000 and uttering forged documents.

No information was provided about where these two wanted individuals are located.

A press release sent out Thursday stated that vehicles obtained through fraud are “another form of organized auto theft.”

If anyone has information related to this case they are encouraged to contact the police at 905-453-3311 ext. 3335 or anonymously reach out to Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
