Woman deceased after being struck by dump truck in Mississauga, police say

A girl in her 50s has died in hospital after she was struck by a dump truck in Mississauga on Thursday, Peel Regional Police say.

The collision occurred within the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West and Erin Mills Parkway, based on Const. Tyler Bell, spokesperson for Peel police. Officers have been known as to the realm at about 1:15 p.m.

Bell mentioned the girl was strolling eastbound throughout the intersection at a crosswalk, when she was hit by the dump truck headed north.

The lady was taken to a neighborhood hospital, the place she was pronounced deceased.

The motive force, in the meantime, remained on the scene. There is not any phrase on charges.

“This can be a very massive intersection with a number of lanes in every path — north, south, east and west,” Bell mentioned.

“I imply, it is no stranger to collisions right here, sometimes not with pedestrians. However it’s a very busy intersection with a excessive quantity of each vehicular and pedestrian visitors.”

Peel police’s main collision bureau was on scene on Thursday to reconstruct the crash.

Anybody who was driving within the space on the time of the collision and who has dashboard digital camera video of the incident is being requested to contact police.
