Peel police are asking for help from the community to find a man linked to an alleged hate-motivated attack in Mississauga.

A woman was approached by an unknown man while she was walking on Mississauga Valley Boulevard on Dec. 3 around 3:30 p. m., according to Peel Regional Police in a news release.

The man reportedly shouted at her, forcefully took off her hijab and jacket hood, and then pushed her down before running away into a nearby wooded area, police said.

The woman did not suffer any physical injuries during this incident.

The suspect is described as tall and heavyset, wearing a black hoodie along with other dark clothing.

Authorities are urging residents to be careful when walking alone and to report any suspicious activity they notice.

If anyone has information about this case, they should contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
