The Crown alleges that Naim Akl met and befriended a bunch of males who claimed to be religious followers of the Islamic religion. The chief was Abassi and his followers included Raza and Nath.

D’Iorio stated Naim didn’t inform his household he had transformed to Islam, from the Druze religion, and commenced working at Abbasi’s warehouse enterprise with Raza and Nath. The warehouse was referred to as a Success by Amazon or an FBA enterprise.

“Mr. Abbasi and his followers had pledged allegiance to ISIS, the Islamic State, and he was using the business to finance that organization. Money was being sent ‘back home’ to further that cause,” stated D’Iorio.

The Crown says Naim turned conscious that Abassi and his group had pledged allegiance to ISIS. After a falling out over the enterprise, Naim was planning to go to the authorities and to betray them.

“So they came up with a plan to prevent that from happening. Naim Akl and his whole family would be killed,” D’Iorio defined.

The Crown stated they may show that Abassi actively inspired Raza and Nath to commit the crimes. Raza was the motive force and Nath was the gunman whose plan was to kill each particular person within the restaurant.

All three males have pleaded not responsible.

The trial continues.
