If you pay close attention, you might spot a restaurant in Mississauga and other spots around Ontario in a Netflix thriller that just came out this fall.

Wayward, a mystery thriller featuring Mae Martin, Toni Collette, and Sarah Gadon, was filmed across southern Ontario, according to a recent post from Netflix titled Netflix in Your Neighbourhood.

The plot is set in the fictional town of Tall Pines, where things aren’t what they appear to be. After trying to escape from an academy for “troubled teens,” two students team up with a new local police officer to uncover the town’s hidden and troubling secrets.

This limited series had its premiere at TIFF in September and became available on Netflix on Sept. 25.

Netflix revealed that filming took place in Mississauga, Milton, Toronto, Dundas, Millbrook, Guelph, and Ashburn.

“Key scenes from the show were shot at Aristotle’s Steak & Seafood House in Mississauga and Kelso Conservation Area in Milton,” noted Netflix.

A popular spot for over 30 years, Aristotle’s Steak & Seafood House located in Meadowvale is among the best places for seafood in the city. The restaurant features an elegant dining atmosphere with Greek-inspired decor including statues and grand s.

Other filming sites for the series include Rockwood Conservation Area in Guelph, Allen Lane and Needlers Lane along with Downtown Millbrook, Hy-Hope Farm in Ashburn, Ted’s Restaurant in Toronto, and Christie Lake Conservation Area located in Dundas.
