Matt Mahoney, Ward 8 Councillor appointed Deputy Mayor for the rest of the 2022-2026 time period of Council.

Mississauga Metropolis Council, led by Mayor Carolyn Parrish, appointed Ward 8 Councillor, Matt Mahoney as Deputy Mayor for the rest of the 2022-2026 time period of Council throughout the June 26 Council assembly.

The Deputy Mayor function is new for Mississauga Metropolis Council and is appointed in accordance with the Ontario Municipal Act. The Deputy Mayor will help Mayor Parrish and function the performing mayor at capabilities or actions at her discretion, together with, however not restricted to, official Metropolis occasions, intergovernmental and third-party conferences. Deputy Mayor Mahoney may even change into the everlasting Chair of Basic Committee and preside at Council and different Committee conferences as required.

Councillor Mahoney was first elected as Ward 8 Councillor in 2014 and is now in his third time period. He has served on quite a few committees throughout his time on Council together with Governance Committee (Vice-Chair), Environmental Motion Committee (Chair), Peel Police Companies Board, Credit score Valley Conservation, Accessibility Advisory Committee (Metropolis & Area), Mississauga Public Library Board, in addition to others.
