Ontario’s police oversight agency is looking into the death of a 35-year-old man who fell from a condominium in Mississauga on Wednesday.

Peel Regional Police arrived at the scene after receiving calls about a man in trouble at a condo building on Kingsbridge Garden Circle, close to Eglinton Avenue West and Hurontario Street, around 10 a. m., according to a release from the Special Investigations Unit.

The SIU reports that officers went into the man’s apartment and tried to talk with him before he fell from an upper floor to the ground below.

The man was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Since Peel police were present when he died, the SIU has taken over the investigation.

The SIU is an independent agency that looks into cases involving police or officials that might have led to death, serious injury, sexual assault, or firearm discharge against someone.

The agency has assigned three investigators along with one forensic investigator to this case. A post-mortem examination is set for Friday.

The SIU is asking anyone who has information, including photos or video, to reach out to their investigators.

No details surrounding the circumstances of the man’s death have been established yet, and the SIU’s investigation remains ongoing.
