A 19-year-old man has passed away after being shot by a Peel regional police officer at a home in Mississauga on Thursday afternoon, as confirmed by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
In a Thursday night update, the SIU reported that the deceased male was involved in a stabbing incident that occurred earlier at a residence on Greensboro Drive around 2:30 p. m. This area is near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Britannia Road West.
The SIU explained, “police received a call about an injured man at a residence on Greensboro Drive. It was later determined the man was stabbed by a family member in a residence nearby and was seeking help at a neighboring home.”

According to the SIU, Peel officers then tried to communicate with the stabbing suspect.

The male was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
The SIU noted that an edged weapon was found at the scene.
