A man has been arrested following two random, unprovoked attacks in Mississauga that resulted in one death and another injury.

Peel Regional Police informed that on Friday evening, officers responded to a report of a 58-year-old woman who had been violently attacked at a plaza located at 1310 Dundas St. E. She was found with serious injuries when police arrived and later succumbed to her wounds in the hospital.

Following a brief foot chase, the 58-year-old male suspect was taken into custody.

Authorities later discovered that about half an hour prior to this incident, a 61-year-old man had also been attacked by the same individual at a bus stop near Dixie Road and Dundas Street.

Kent Mc Kerron, who has no fixed address, faces charges of second-degree murder and assault. He is set for a bail hearing on Saturday.

“These incidents are very concerning to us as police and to our community,” a spokesperson said, as he explained both attacks were random, unprovoked assaults. “These types of events are not common.”

Police are urging anyone with information or who witnessed either attack to reach out to investigators.

The public is not currently at risk.
