A tractor-trailer that was taken from Mississauga was found in Guelph on Monday night, even before the company that owns it realized it was missing, according to police.
Guelph Police reported they were called to a location on Campbell Road around 6:15 p. m. after receiving reports of a man possibly attempting to steal a truck.
“As officers arrived, they saw a dark-coloured Toyota Land Cruiser fleeing at a high rate of speed and evading police,” police stated in a news release on Tuesday.
The officers then inspected the truck and “found identifying decals had been removed and parts of the dash were torn out,” police noted, adding that officials from the Mississauga company that owns the truck were contacted and were unaware it had been stolen.
The investigation is ongoing as police are still working to identify the person who fled the scene.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to call police at 519-824-1212, ext. 7539, or email [email protected].
