York University’s Markham Campus has been awarded an Honourable Mention at the 2026 Architecture Master Prize, highlighting its outstanding design and innovative approach in architecture.
This LEED Gold-certified facility transforms the urban campus concept, integrating a variety of academic programs within a unique 10-storey structure located in Markham, Ontario.
Taking into account its limited urban setting, the design fosters a collegial academic environment with vertically connected spaces across multiple levels. Adaptable learning areas are centered around an open atrium that promotes collaboration, accessibility, and interdisciplinary interaction. This creates a dynamic hub for learning and student involvement while enhancing the campus’s civic presence in the expanding city of Markham.
The Architecture Master Prize is an international recognition program that celebrates creativity, innovation, and excellence in various fields including architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, architectural product design, and architectural photography. Each year’s awards honor projects that enhance the quality of built environments globally.
York University Markham Campus received an Honourable Mention alongside 24 other educational projects from around the world.
