Toronto police are trying to find out what occurred after responding to two separate firearm discharges in the same neighborhood of Scarborough on Monday night.

Just after 9:15 p. m., a shot was fired at a home on Dolly Varden Boulevard, close to Markham Road and Ellesmere Avenue.

According to Toronto police, officers went to the residence after receiving reports of a shooting and discovered “evidence of gunfire.” They noted damage to the window of the house.

The young family living there is shaken by the event.

The homeowner, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared with Toronto that a bullet went through the window frame of a children’s playroom on the second floor, hitting and breaking a child’s diploma that was displayed on the wall.

“I was reading a story to my sons, and I heard glass shattering inside,” said the man.

He mentioned he was preparing his twin six-year-old boys for bed around 9 p. m. when he heard the gunshot.

Fortunately, no one sustained injuries.

“I had heard glass shatter about a minute or two after leaving that very room with my sons. When we realized what had happened, it was quite shocking,” said the homeowner, expressing confusion over why his home was targeted.

At another nearby house on Clementine Square, multiple bullet holes-at least four-were found in the front window less than three hours later.

In this instance too, officers found evidence of gunfire. Police reported locating a residence that had been shot at and damaged.

“I went inside, and then just three minutes later-bam, bam, bam! Oh my God! Lucky I’m already inside,” area resident Elvira Repencol told Toronto on Tuesday.

Repencol said she returned home just before midnight with groceries when she heard gunfire.

She believes she saw one suspect running away from the scene.

“I saw someone run over there-a guy wearing a black jacket,” Repencol stated.

No injuries were reported; however, this is not the first time this address has faced such an incident.

Last month, several vehicles parked there were discovered with numerous bullet holes. Fortunately, no one was hurt during that event either.
