Western College and caretaking, panorama service, and trades staff represented by CUPE 2361 have reached a tentative settlement.
This tentative settlement will put an finish to the six-week strike on campus.
“We were able to reach an agreement that makes progress on key priorities, and we’re happy to be getting back to work,” mentioned Steve Pepper, an electrical motor mechanic and president of CUPE 2361. “This has been a difficult round of bargaining, and we greatly appreciate the support and patience of Western students, our community, and especially the other labour groups on campus.”
CUPE 2361 represents about 330 staff who’re accountable for making a clear, secure and accessible campus for everybody.
The employees have been on strike since Western ended negotiations on Aug. 30.
Picket traces will stay in place till members ratify the settlement in a vote on the morning of Friday, Oct. 11. The college ratification vote will comply with.
In a press release to , Western College mentioned, “Western University and CUPE 2361 have reached a tentative agreement, which the negotiating teams have jointly agreed to recommend to their respective parties. The agreement will require the ratification of CUPE 2361 members and Western’s Board of Governors.”
If ratified by each events, members will return to work Oct. 17.
No additional particulars shall be launched previous to ratification.
