Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after an 18-year-old man was fatally shot by police in London, Ont., who have been responding to what the Particular Investigations Unit describes as a “domestic violence investigation.”

London police stated the suspect and victims “were known to each other” and although there will probably be a heavy police presence within the space on Wednesday, there aren’t any excellent suspects and no ongoing danger to public security.

Truong added that 95 municipalities within the province, “including the City of London, have recognized intimate partner violence as an epidemic.”
He stated ladies and women represent over 80 per cent of intimate associate violence victims amongst instances reported to police and that “we acknowledge that intimate partner violence is significantly underreported.”
