The City of London is set to hold its second virtual public meeting next week as it works on a new Downtown Plan designed to direct growth and investment in the heart of the city.

This Downtown Plan is being created under the guidance of city council, aiming to establish a long-term approach that encourages residential, commercial, and job growth in downtown London. The plan aims to lay out clear objectives and practical strategies to shape future development, investments, and revitalization efforts.

Phase 1 of this project wrapped up in 2025 and centered on research, data gathering, and community engagement. This phase featured an online survey, face-to-face focus groups, and a virtual public meeting, alongside an evaluation of existing policies and conditions in the downtown area. Feedback from residents, businesses, and community stakeholders played a vital role in pinpointing key challenges and opportunities while guiding the creation of several draft actions.

The project has now progressed into Phase 2, which focuses on fine-tuning those draft actions while working towards a comprehensive Downtown Plan. This plan is expected to detail short-, medium-, and long-term initiatives aimed at enhancing downtown vitality over the next few years.

In the upcoming virtual public meeting, city staff will present the draft actions while giving participants a chance to ask questions and provide feedback. The input collected will be used to refine the plan further before it’s finalized for presentation to council.

City officials believe this meeting offers residents, business owners, and community organizations a chance to gain insights into the next steps in planning while helping shape the future of downtown London.

The virtual public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 5, from 6 to 7:30 p. m. via Zoom webinar.

You can register for the webinar ahead of time or check out the project’s Get Involved webpage for background info, project updates, and details on signing up for the meeting.
