Freeway 401, via Kitchener, was dropped at a standstill Friday resulting from an investigation by Ontario Provincial Police.
The eastbound lanes had been closed between Cedar Creek Highway and Homer Watson/Fountain Road South.
A number of drivers advised there have been important backups on the freeway.
On the Ministry of Transportation’s web site, they confirmed backups all the way in which to Trussler Highway.
