A man was taken to the hospital following what police described as a targeted shooting in downtown Kitchener. The suspect remains at large.

Waterloo Regional Police Service responded to reports near King Street East and Scott Street around 9 p. m. on Wednesday.

Two police cars remained in a small parking lot on Scott until around 4 a. m. Thursday.

Authorities stated that they found a 30-year-old man from Kitchener who had been shot.

He was transported to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Investigators think this incident was targeted. However, they still do not know who the suspect is, and no arrests have been made yet.

The police are asking for help from anyone who may have witnessed the shooting, especially those with video footage of the event.

You can contact the police at 519-570-9777 or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or by clicking here.
