OPP officer allegedly assaulted after stolen automobile crashes in Norfolk County discipline

Two individuals have been charged following a collision that concerned a stolen automobile.


The Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police, together with the West Area OPP Emergency Response Crew and the West Area OPP Canine Unit, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Concession 2 Townsend in Norfolk County round 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.


A sedan, which police stated they confirmed was stolen from an tackle in Brantford, reportedly veered off the highway and crashed right into a discipline. Police stated one of many occupants ran away after the crash.


Police stated when officers arrived, they discovered a passenger contained in the automobile and took them into custody with out incident. They had been taken to hospital with minor accidents.


Police stated officers discovered the second suspect not too distant from the collision web site and so they had been taken into custody.


“During the arrest, an officer was physically assaulted, though no injuries were reported,” police stated through a media launch. “This suspect was also transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.”


A 28-year-old from Burlington was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.


A 49-year-old from Norfolk County was charged with assaulting a peace officer, three counts of uttering threats – inflicting loss of life or bodily hurt, failing to adjust to a probation order and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
