Local hospitals seek support as Split the Pot Lottery tops $1M

Hospitals are hoping their native communities are prepared to pitch in to assist buy some lifesaving gear. A complete of 68 services, together with Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, are participating within the upcoming {Split} the Pot Lottery.

Cash raised by way of the neighborhood fundraising effort will assist pressing upgrades, together with the whole lot from X-rays to MRI machines.

Lisa Evans is aware of how worthwhile that gear might be to these in therapy.

“I think it’s super important to support our local hospitals,” she stated. “I have a son who is a cancer survivor. He was diagnosed when he was 16.”

Evans can also be a {Split} the Pot Lottery jackpot winner. She took dwelling virtually $700,000 over the last draw.

“My son received amazing care and he’s many years cancer-free now,” she advised . “I can’t not donate to the hospitals and support them.”

Hospitals in Ontario, together with each Grand River Hospital and St Mary’s Basic Hospital in Kitchener, take part within the {Split} the Pot Lottery each quarter.

This time the jackpot is estimated at greater than $1 million.

Hospitals recognize the neighborhood assist.

“We get government funding to support our daily operations, but we don’t get any funding for equipment,” stated Vickie Murray, the transition supervisor for Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s Basic Hospital. “That is 100 per cent on the hospital. So it’s really helpful when community members support us with initiatives like this.”

Group funding, just like the lottery, permits them to buy important gear that’s used each day.

“Things like checking [a patient’s] blood pressure, their pulse, their temperature, measuring how much oxygen is in their blood. These are tools that we need to use every single day for care and ensure our families are well,” defined Patricia Blancher, GRH’s program director. “All of these, even play activities for our children, all come through financial dollars and funds raised through this program.”

Tickets for the lottery might be bought on the {Split} the Pot web site.
