It seems like we might be witnessing the end of an era for a long-time favorite for birthday celebrations and holiday mornings in Waterloo Region.

The Toys “R” Us store that has been a fixture for 40 years at the intersection of Fairway Road South and Wilson Avenue in Kitchener is now up for sale.

A big “For Sale” sign has appeared at this busy intersection.

For years, the company has faced financial difficulties leading to closures of stores nationwide.

This January, they revealed plans to close five locations across Ontario this year, including those in London and Stoney Creek.

Earlier this summer, the Brantford location also shut its doors permanently.

Details on the asking price for the Kitchener property remain unclear. The listing does not specify any price.

It’s also uncertain when exactly the Kitchener store will close since selling such a large building could take some time.
