The power cut is planned for Sunday, Feb 22, from 6 am to 10 am, to let Hydro One finish upgrading its systems.
A scheduled power interruption will impact customers in the east end of Kingston, Wolfe Island, Howe Island, and Gananoque later this month as part of upgrades by Hydro One.
Eastern Ontario Power (EOP) is informing residents and businesses that the outage is set for next Sunday, Feb. 22, from 6 a. m. to 10 a. m.
This necessary outage will allow Hydro One to complete essential infrastructure upgrades. During this time, the main electrical supply to Gananoque will be shut down, leading to a town-wide loss of electricity.
EOP mentioned that this timing was chosen to minimize disruption as much as possible and encourages customers to plan ahead. If unexpected issues arise, the alternate date for the work will be March 1.
“In an effort to minimize the inconvenience, the outage has been scheduled at times thought to be the least disruptive to our customers,” said Jackie Baird, Regional Manager, EOP.
“We recognize the inconvenience this Hydro One mandatory outage may cause our customers and we encourage customers to plan accordingly and thank them for their patience and understanding.”
Customers can find more information about planned outages on EOP’s website and are encouraged to follow the utility on social media for updates. For further details, residents may contact EOP directly by phone or visit its website.
Eastern Ontario Power serves around 3,700 customers in Gananoque and is a subsidiary of Fortis Ontario Inc.
