A stolen Jeep Wrangler was recovered by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at this time, Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, after an officer tried to cease the driving force on Freeway 401 within the Kingston space.
Based on a launch from the Frontenac County Detachment of the OPP, simply after 9:30 a.m. at this time, a member of the Visitors Incident Administration Enforcement workforce (TIME) was patrolling Freeway 401 in Kingston and acquired an alert on the automated licence plate reader (ALPR) for the stolen car.
“An attempt to stop the vehicle was initiated by the officer but the driver did not stop,” the OPP said.
“Leeds County OPP members were assisted by the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team (TIME), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Gananoque Police, and Kingston Police Force (K9), to locate the individual who abandoned the Jeep Wrangler in the town of Gananoque.”
Based on the OPP, the person was arrested by Gananoque police through the search with a Okay-9 Unit from the Kingston Police Power, after fleeing from the stolen car.
The 34-year-old male, from Montreal was charged with:
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000Trafficking in stolen items over $5,000Flight from a police officer
“The individual was commanded to attend the Ontario Court of Justice, in Brockville, on October 18, 2024, for those charges,” police mentioned.
Kingstonist inquired with the Frontenac OPP as to the place the car had initially been stolen from. Based on Constable Robert Martell, Media Relations Officer for the Frontenac OPP, the Jeep was reported stolen out of the Larger Toronto Space (GTA).
