Kingston police have charged a 26-year-old mother from Ontario after they discovered her young child “under dressed” among a group of adults who were using drugs.
Officers reported that on Thursday at about 8:30 p. m., they were carrying out patrols in the area of Princess Street and Drayton Avenue.
During their patrol, they spotted a group of adults “engaging in open air drug use” and saw a four-year-old child crouched between them.
“The officers noted the child was under dressed for the current weather conditions and did not have a hat or gloves on,” police said in a press release.

“Due to her level of intoxication, the female was arrested and the child remained with officers while Family and Children Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington were contacted.”
Police allege that during her arrest, she attempted to push away from them using her child as a shield before kicking at officers.
A 26-year-old woman from Windsor, Ont., faces charges for resisting a peace officer and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
The child was taken to Kingston police headquarters before being handed over to children’s services.
