Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a person was shot by police Friday northwest of Kingston, Ont., and brought to hospital with critical accidents.

Simply after 5 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police responded to a “disturbance” at a residence on County Street 4 close to the village of Camden East in Stone Mills Township, the OPP stated in a press release on Saturday.

Based on the Particular Investigations Unit (SIU), officers tried to speak with a 41-year-old man inside.

In some unspecified time in the future, the person left the residence whereas carrying an “edged weapon,” the SIU stated Saturday afternoon.

In the course of the ensuing interplay, two of the officers used their Anti-Riot Weapon ENfields (weapons that may launch quite a lot of projectiles together with plastic bullets, tear gasoline and less-lethal batons), based on the SIU.

One other officer discharged their firearm and the person was hit, the SIU stated.

The SIU invokes its mandate to analyze police conduct which will have resulted in demise, critical harm, sexual assault or the discharge of a firearm at an individual. It will probably advocate prison charges.

The unbiased watchdog company didn’t reply additional questions posed by CBC.

It is asking anybody with details about the taking pictures to contact its lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
