Police have arrested a Scarborough man for human trafficking and little one sexual abuse materials offences following a joint investigation that started in Kingston and Better Sudbury earlier this 12 months.

The investigation, dubbed Mission Shrewsbury, was launched in August 2024 after Kingston Police and Better Sudbury Police acquired experiences of a male recruiting and transporting two younger females from their jurisdictions for the aim of {sex} trafficking.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Human Trafficking Intelligence-led Joint Forces Technique (IJFS) coordinated the investigation on account of its human trafficking focus. Peel Regional Police joined the hassle when it was decided that offences in opposition to the victims occurred within the Better Toronto Space.

On Nov. 20, OPP officers arrested 37-year-old Sheldon Lester Saunders of Scarborough. He faces a number of charges below the Felony Code, together with trafficking individuals below 18, procuring below 18, possession and distribution of kid pornography, and assault inflicting bodily hurt. Saunders stays in custody and is ready to look in courtroom on Dec. 16, 2024, in Brampton.
