As mentioned earlier, police were called to Kingston General Hospital (KGH) on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. An unidentified male – who was later named as Syring – had passed away from injuries sustained during an assault. The police found that the event leading to Syring’s death took place at a residence located in the 2300 block of Princess Street, which is now known as Kingston Crest Residences.

On Thursday, January 1, 2026, officers took into custody 51-year-old Angelo Oliveira and charged him with second-degree murder. Oliveira has made two court appearances since his arrest. On Thursday, January 8, 2026, it was reported by police that a second suspect, Mike Barry aged 59, was also arrested. This left only Jesse Hanrahan still wanted.

“Hanrahan was charged with second degree murder and taken to Kingston Police headquarters. He is set to attend a bail hearing,” police noted.

When asked about where exactly Hanrahan was apprehended, police stated only that the 32-year-old was arrested “in Kingston.”

If anyone has information regarding the murder of Jayme Syring they are encouraged to reach out to Detective Constable Anthony Hampton at 613-549-4660 ext. 6438 or via email at [email protected], or Detective Constable Joel Fisher at 613-549-4660 ext. 6338 or via email at [email protected].

You can also provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-888-222-TIPS (8477) or visiting the Ontario Crime Stoppers website.
