Adam MacIntosh, who has dedicated his last quarter-century at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in British Columbia will be relocating back east this coming year as he takes over for Scott Fraser upon his retirement.

Originally hailing from Ottawa and raised in Mississauga before heading westwards.

The 53-year-old stated that he decided to apply for this position due both personal ties and professional aspirations.

“Personally, that’s where my wife’s family lives and she lived before we knew each other. For her it’s coming back home. We’ve visited Kingston many times,” said MacIntosh while sharing plans for visiting during holidays.

A father of two adult children raised partly within Ontario’s borders mentioned having family spread across both sides of Kingston too.

“On a personal level it was an ideal choice for me aside from how great both Kingston itself is along with its police service,” added MacIntosh.’

‘Professionally speaking I’ve always aimed toward advancing myself toward eventually becoming a chief.’


‘That’s partially why I directed much thought into my career path aimed at acquiring skills needed for such positions when opportunities presented themselves like this one.”
‘So when those aspects came together it became an amazing chance,” he explained .
Per information shared via statement posted by Kingston Police Services Board , Macintosh’s appointment “demonstrates board ‘s dedication towards attracting strong leadership talent nationwide while also signaling confidence policing community possesses regarding service offered within city.”
