Kingston police say a neighborhood waste administration facility was evacuated Saturday afternoon after staff discovered a stay grenade in a scrap metallic container.
Police say workers on the facility had been sorting objects in a scrap metallic disposal container after they discovered what they believed was a grenade.
They are saying the employees then contacted police, who decided the article was in actual fact a stay grenade with the pin nonetheless intact.
The ability was evacuated and the Ontario Provincial Police explosives unit went to the scene.
Kingston police say the OPP unit disposed of the grenade.
Police say it’s unknown how the grenade ended up within the waste container.
