Kingston Police say {that a} visitors cease led to a big medication and weapon seizure earlier this week.

“On December 19, 2024, members of the Kingston Police Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of Princess Street and Chatham Street that resulted in the seizure of multiple varieties of illicit drugs and a loaded firearm,” Kingston Police stated in a press launch on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024.

“During the stop the driver of the vehicle was arrested and found to be in possession of a fully loaded semi-automatic 9mm firearm which was concealed within their jacket pocket,” police stated.

In response to police, an extra search of the car and the occupants revealed “various types of illicit drugs, currency, ammunition as well as a suspected portable lab equipped with all instruments needed for the processing of fentanyl.”

Police stated that the motive force of the car, a 35-year-old Kingston resident, was arrested and charged with 5 counts of possession for the goal of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and quite a few firearm offences. “This individual is currently bound by five separate weapons prohibitions from past criminal convictions,” police defined.

A 42-year-old particular person with no ties to Kingston was additionally arrested and charged with 5 counts of possession for the aim of trafficking in addition to possession of proceeds of crime, police stated.

“This individual was also wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police for theft under $5000 and is currently facing charges from the Ottawa Police for 33 counts of theft under $5000, two counts of break and enter and commit, utter death threats and cause disturbance,” the police assertion continued.

Each accused events had been transported to Kingston Police headquarters the place they had been held for bail hearings, in accordance with Kingston Police.

In whole, police stated, investigators seized 1500 grams of fentanyl, 1634.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 778 grams of cocaine, 149 Percocet drugs, 276 Xanax drugs, 44 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a digital scale together with a number of bowls, measuring cups and packaging supplies. The approximate road worth of the gadgets seized is estimated by police at $619,705.

“This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Kingston Police to combat drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession within the city. It further illustrates the influx of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs in the city and highlights their detrimental effects on the community,” Kingston Police stated of their assertion.

“The Kingston Police strive to ensure the safety and security of the community. Investigators implore the public to assist with any drug and/or weapon information they may observe.
