OPP say there were over 11,000 checkpoints over the holiday period.

Ontario Provincial Police officers took 766 impaired drivers off the roads during this year’s Festive RIDE campaign, which aims to keep communities safe throughout the holidays.

From Nov. 20, 2025, to Jan. 1, 2026, OPP officers worked tirelessly, often facing tough winter conditions. They dedicated more than 20,000 hours to this initiative and set up over 11,000 RIDE checkpoints across Ontario.

During the campaign, the OPP issued 150 immediate roadside suspensions for drivers who fell within the Warn Range or belonged to Zero Tolerance driver groups-this includes young and novice drivers as well as commercial drivers who must not have any alcohol or drugs in their system.

The police emphasize that these results demonstrate how crucial ongoing enforcement and public awareness are when it comes to fighting impaired driving.

Drivers should keep in mind that RIDE programs happen year-round-not just during the holidays-as part of continuous efforts to protect lives on Ontario roads.

The OPP also expressed gratitude towards residents who reported suspected impaired drivers, noting that those calls are vital for keeping roads safer.
