Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed that the motive force of a transport has been charged following a collision within the early morning of Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 that closed Freeway 401 close to Kingston for a number of hours.
“A tractor trailer travelling eastbound on the 401 highway struck another tractor trailer that was parked on the shoulder, which resulted in the highway being blocked for several hours,” OPP defined in a press launch the next day.

The collision, which occurred simply earlier than 06:00 a.m. west of the Gardiners Street off-ramp, brought on the struck car to catch on hearth and blocked the freeway, OPP stated.
Officers from each Frontenac and Lennox & Addington OPP detachments attended, as did Kingston Fireplace Rescue crews and Frontenac Paramedics.
“Minor injuries were reported for the drivers of both involved vehicles,” OPP stated.
The tractor trailer unit was transporting a load of meals when it struck the opposite car carrying electronics, in accordance with OPP. “The highway was closed for approximately six hours for removal of the wreckage,” police stated.
In line with OPP, a 31-year-old male, from Palgrave, Ontario was charged with Careless Operation of a Motor Automobile.
