A local driver was arrested after a single-vehicle collision on a Highway 401 off-ramp in Kingston over the weekend.
According to a release from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, Frontenac OPP members were called to the single-vehicle collision, which took place on the westbound off-ramp at Division Street. A Kia sedan had reportedly been travelling west on Highway 401 and attempted to exit when it went off the road and struck a light pole.
“Kingston Fire Rescue assisted at the collision scene, where no injuries to the driver or any of the other occupants were reported. Officers detected alcohol to be involved and administered a roadside test, which resulted in the arrest of the driver, who was taken for further breath testing at the detachment,” the OPP detailed.
Zachary Jensen, a 36-year-old male from Kingston has been charged with:
Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – alcoholOperation of a motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit
Police said the driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston in February 2025. Jensen also had his drivers license suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
