Kingston Police (KP) say {that a} lone male who had barricaded himself inside a Rosemund Place residence for many of the day on Wednesday, Sep. 25, 2024 is now in police custody, “after lengthy negotiations and tactics.”

In keeping with KP, their involvement started when officers from Uniform Patrol had been assigned to a matter of an worker at an area Kingston firm changing into threatening and harassing in nature to the proprietor of the enterprise and their household, inflicting concern for the security of all concerned.

“Grounds were formed to arrest and charge the employee,” KP stated, and officers attended his residence on Rosemund Place.

“When patrol officers made contact with the accused at approximately 1:00 p.m. he became aggressive, resistant, and barricaded himself alone inside the residence, where he was in possession of, and displaying, a machete,” KP stated.

Officers from a number of Kingston Police models, together with K9 and the Emergency Response Staff (ERT), attended the Strathcona Park neighbourhood in response to the threats.

Whereas police assured residents that there was no danger to public security, KP requested the general public to keep away from the realm of Aberfoyle Street and Rosemund Crescent throughout the incident, calling it “an ongoing and isolated incident at a residence in that area.”

Police tried a number of strategies to extricate the person from the residence together with, in line with eyewitnesses, use of a directed power weapon.

Following negotiations with the person, he was taken into police custody shortly after 9 p.m.

“As a precaution due to exposure to aerosol spray, and under police escort, he was transported to hospital via paramedics,” Kingston Police stated.

Following evaluation and therapy at hospital, he will probably be delivered to police headquarters and attend a bail listening to the following day.

In keeping with Kingston Police, no different people had been current inside the house.

The 46-year-old male is now dealing with charges of Felony Harassment, Mischief on account of damaging police tools, one rely of Uttering Threats to Trigger Bodily Hurt and one rely of Uttering Threats to Trigger Demise to responding cops.
