A Kingston resident has now been charged following a joint Kingston Police and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigation in reference to house invasions in Kingston and on Wolfe Island.
Following inquiries from the Kingstonist, Kingston Police confirmed that on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Lasalle Boulevard, a usually quiet residential neighbourhood within the east finish of Kingston. One individual was arrested.
The investigation by the Kingston Police, the Leeds County Detachment of the OPP and OPP Felony Investigation Department started in October 2024.
“On August 22, 2024, Leeds County OPP officers responded to a home on Road 96 on Wolfe Island, where the residents had been assaulted. Then, on September 23, 2024, Kingston Police responded to a home invasion in the Frontenac Street and Brock Street area. During the two incidents, one person suffered life-threatening injuries, and three others suffered non-life-threatening injuries,” Kingston Police stated in a joint assertion on Tuesday.
Kingston Police confirmed that Kurtis Scouten, age 29, has been charged collectively underneath the Felony Code by the Kingston Police and OPP with:
Three counts of assault with a weaponAssaultAggravated assaultTwo counts of utilizing an imitation firearm to commit an indictable offenceTwo counts of break and enter to commit an indictable offenceTwo counts of sporting a masks or disguise to commit an indictable offence
Scouten was remanded into custody following a bail listening to and is scheduled to look earlier than the Ontario Court docket of Justice in Kingston once more on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025.
The investigation by the Kingston Police and OPP is continuous.
