Swim, skate, run
The City of Hamilton is offering additional drop-in swim, gym, and skate sessions throughout March break. You can find specific schedules for local recreation centers online.Visit the library
The Hamilton Public Library has a variety of programming planned for March break, including karaoke, gaming events, science activities, nature exploration, movies, and music sessions. You can view the event schedule online. Don’t forget that your library card also gives you access to a Presto transit card for your child, lets you borrow passes to Ontario Parks and Hamilton conservation areas, and allows you to check out passes to the Art Gallery of Hamilton.Discover Hamilton Civic Museums
If you have a library card, entry is free at all Hamilton Civic Museums on March 16. This includes the Hamilton Children’s Museum and Dundurn National Historic Site. Each museum has its own schedule available online.Take a stroll at Gage Park
The Gage Park Tropical Greenhouse will host Spring Discover Days featuring guided tours, scavenger hunts, and educational programs.Savor maple syrup treats
This month marks the annual Maple Syrup Festival at Bronte Creek Provincial Park in Burlington. The festival features guided tours, farm animals to see up close, tasty treats, and a pancake house. If you’re driving there, you’ll need a daily vehicle permit that can be bought up to five days ahead of time. You can also visit Westfield Heritage Village Conservation Area which offers its own maple syrup activities including a sugar shack experience, wagon rides, pancakes galore, and historical interpreters on hand.Create at the farmer’s market
This week at Hamilton’s Farmer’s Market local artist Annie Webber will lead participants in an exciting cardboard construction challenge. Join in between 10 a. m. and 12 p. m. from March 18 to 21.Catch a movie
Playhouse Cinema will screen family-friendly films all week long like Paddington 2 and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Tickets cost $9 with matinees showcasing three Looney Tunes shorts before each feature film.
