How does this work?

A man and woman face charges after a stolen SUV crashed into two police cars as it tried to flee officers in Hamilton late Thursday night.

As part of an ongoing investigation, Halton Regional Police officers spotted a stolen Toyota 4Runner on Parkdale Avenue North at around 10:40 p.m., police said.

When officers tried to stop the SUV, it sped away and collided with two Halton police cruisers, but kept going.

“The stolen vehicle continued north on Main Street, where it lost control at Strathearne Avenue,” Halton police said in a news release on Friday. “A male driver and female passenger then fled on foot.”

A man was arrested near the scene of the crash and a woman was apprehended a short time later with help from Hamilton Police.

The SUV had been reported stolen from the Burlington area on Monday, police said.
