Hamilton and Brantford, Ont., are facing a freezing rain warning for Wednesday, along with much of southwestern Ontario – although the warnings differ due to uncertain temperature forecasts.
Starting early in the day, Hamilton and Brantford will likely experience several hours of freezing rain and wind gusts, leading to ice accumulation that could damage utilities and trees, according to Environment Canada on Tuesday.
They pointed out that roads and sidewalks might become slick, potentially causing a “significant” impact on rush hour traffic.
“Since temperatures are expected to be close to the freezing mark, there is some uncertainty regarding how much ice accretion will occur.”

Possible Ice Pellets and Snow
For the Niagara and Haldimand-Norfolk regions, Environment Canada anticipates 10 to 25 mm of rain, with freezing rain possible. Burlington may also see freezing rain and ice pellets, but snow could make an appearance as well. “At this point, confidence is lower than normal regarding snowfall and freezing rain amounts,” said the agency concerning the special weather statement for Burlington, adding it may release new warnings as the time approaches. A fog advisory was also in effect for much of the region on Tuesday morning, with Environment Canada stating that the fog should lift by late morning.Source link
