The United States Coast Guard has reported that it has found debris from an Ontario air ambulance that disappeared off the eastern coast of the U. S. early Saturday morning.
According to the U. S. Coast Guard, they initiated a search operation after the Federal Aviation Administration lost contact with the plane as it was flying from Bermuda to Boston.
The aircraft had six people on board, including four Canadians and two Bermudians.
Air and ground teams are conducting searches near Nantucket, an island roughly 150 kilometers southeast of Boston, as noted by the coast guard in a social media update. The search involves two planes, a rescue lifeboat, a helicopter, and a cutter.

The aircraft is a Gulfstream G100 jet owned by Latitude Air Ambulance, which is based in Hamilton and specializes in medical evacuations.
Clarence Togeretz, operations manager for Latitude Air Ambulance, informed The Canadian Press that the missing plane was transporting a patient along with their family member, plus two pilots and two medical staff members.
Togeretz mentioned that they were tracking the flight and lost communication around 1:30 a. m. Saturday as it neared Boston.
When the plane didn’t land as expected, the company contacted the U. S. Coast Guard for assistance, Togeretz explained.
Togeretz said they are “dealing with the situation with as much positivity and optimism as we can.”
“We’re praying for a safe outcome,” he added.
This is reportedly the first time Latitude Air Ambulance has lost contact with one of its flights.
The company provides emergency medical transport services via airplane worldwide according to its website.
The Government of Bermuda confirms that an air ambulance which departed Bermuda for Boston early this morning, carrying six people, has been reported missing after contact was lost with air traffic control.

Ontario’s air ambulance service provider Ornge responded to news about the missing plane on Saturday by expressing hope “that the aircraft and all passengers are located safely and quickly.”
Togeretz stated that Latitude Air Ambulance is coordinating with Transport Canada regarding this incident.
Federal Transportation Minister Steven Mac Kinnon mentioned he had been informed about what happened.
“We are closely monitoring the situation and are working with relevant authorities while search and rescue efforts continue,” he shared in a social media post. “My thoughts are with everyone on board along with their families during this really tough time.”
