Three workers were taken to the hospital after a porch collapsed at a construction site in Hamilton’s Stoney Creek area on Monday morning.
According to Hamilton Police Service spokesperson Adam Kimber, initial reports indicate that the concrete porch fell down, trapping the three men who were underneath it.
First responders arrived around 9 a. m. ET, worked quickly to free the men, and then transported them to the hospital. One worker sustained a “serious” leg injury, Kimber mentioned in an email around 11:30 a. m.
“The extent of the other injuries is not considered life-threatening at this time.”

Ministry of Labour investigating
Dave Thompson, a commander with the Hamilton Paramedic Service, confirmed that paramedics took three adult men who had “various serious injuries.” The Ministry of Labour in Ontario is looking into the incident, Kimber said, and police are providing assistance as needed. The road was closed temporarily but has since been reopened. A spokesperson for the ministry told CBC Hamilton that two inspectors were present at the scene. “As the investigation is currently ongoing, no further details can be shared at this time,” they said.Source link
