A pedestrian has died after a crash involving a metropolis bus in Guelph.
Police stated they obtained a name simply earlier than 1:37 p.m. Wednesday for a collision at Wyndham Road North and Carden Road.
“The initial report was that a pedestrian was crossing the road when that person was struck by a bus that was making a turn,” defined Scott Tracey, the Guelph Police Service’s media relations coordinator.
Tracey stated the pedestrian, a 49-year-old Fergus man, was extricated from beneath the bus by firefighters from the Guelph Fireplace Division.
He was pronounced deceased a short while later.
Nobody on the bus was bodily damage.
“It’s obviously a very traumatic event. Anyone who witnessed it or was on the bus at the time and may have witnessed it from that perspective – our Victim Services Wellington staff are available for people to reach out and get some assistance in dealing with what they witnessed.”
The street was closed for a number of hours throughout the investigation.
Police stated it’s too early to know if charges are warranted.
