Guelph police are looking into an incident that resulted in a woman’s death after she and her family were hit by a pickup truck on Friday afternoon.

Authorities report that emergency services arrived at the intersection of Paisley Road and Alma Street North shortly after 5 p. m.

According to police, a man and woman were walking with their three-year-old daughter in a stroller when they were struck by the truck while using the crosswalk.

The family was transported to a hospital, where the 38-year-old mother unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

The father, also 38 years old, received treatment for minor injuries, while their daughter was airlifted to a trauma center in Hamilton but was released from the hospital later that evening.

A 19-year-old man from northern Ontario who was driving the pickup stayed at the scene and did not sustain any injuries.

This report by The Canadian Press was first Sept. 22, 2025.
