An Ontario man was struck and killed by a transit bus in downtown Guelph on Wednesday afternoon.
The 49-year-old man from Fergus, about 20 kilometres northwest of Guelph, was hit by the Guelph Transit bus at around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Wyndham Street North and Carden Street, police said.
The man was struck as he crossed Wyndham Street, Guelph Police said in a news release issued Wednesday evening.
Guelph firefighters who responded to the scene extricated the man from under the bus. He was pronounced dead a short time later, police added.
The collision remains under investigation.
