A man from Northern Ontario has been charged in relation to the tragic death of a woman who was struck and killed earlier this month by a pickup truck while crossing the street with her family.
The 38-year-old woman from Guelph was hit at the intersection of Paisley Road and Alma Street North just after 5 p. m. on September 19.
She was accompanied by her 38-year-old husband, who suffered minor injuries, and their three-year-old daughter in a stroller. The daughter was airlifted to a trauma center as a precaution but was released from the hospital later that same night, according to police.
The 19-year-old driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene following the incident and did not sustain any physical injuries.
On Friday, he faced charges from the Guelph Police Service for careless driving causing death, along with two counts of careless driving causing bodily harm.
Authorities stated that he is scheduled to appear in court on December 17.

Police reported that a 66-year-old woman drove past barricades despite officers shouting for her to stop before crashing into a 3D scanner being utilized for investigative purposes.
