Meals and science professor Alejandro G. Marangoni is ‘broadly recognised because the main lipid materials scientist on the planet’
Celebrated for his contributions to science, human well being and environmental sustainability, a Guelph man has been named to the Order of Ontario.
The appointment of Alejandro Marangoni, a meals science professor and analysis chair on the College of Guelph, was introduced on Wednesday.
“Widely recognized as the leading lipid materials scientist in the world, prof. Alejandro Marangoni’s discoveries have transformed food science and engineering. His impact on science, policy and industry are changing what Canadians eat,” reads a backgrounder description.
“A prolific author, educator and mentor, he has also turned his scientific breakthroughs into products that support human health and environmental sustainability, for the health of the planet. His endeavours have positioned Ontario at the forefront of food science and technology on the global stage.”
Marangoni was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2021.
There have been 29 individuals introduced as appointees to the Order of Ontario on Jan. 1.
“The 2024 appointees to the Order of Ontario have enriched the lives of numerous individuals in our province and properly past,” stated Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, within the information launch. “Together, they have attained the highest level of excellence in many fields, and may we all be inspired by their remarkable contributions.”
An funding ceremony shall be held in Toronto.
“On behalf of the government of Ontario, I extend my congratulations to all appointees being honoured,” stated Michael Ford, Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, within the launch. “These remarkably dedicated individuals exemplify the spirit and achievements that make Ontario a great place to live. We commend their invaluable contributions and express our gratitude for everything they do to help build a stronger, more vibrant Ontario.”
