Residents confronted alleged shoplifter throughout the incident, when a knife was pulled
Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) stated two folks have been injured throughout an incident at a Fortinos’ grocery retailer at 2515 Appleby Line yesterday (Sept. 4) at round 2 p.m.
“We responded to what was a theft, and the person responsible produced an edged weapon or knife,” HRPS Employees Sgt. Peter Bishop stated. “Other members of the public intervened prior to police arriving. I believe there was a minor injury that occurred when the citizens went to intervene. There was another party who had intervened who also received a minor injury.”
The suspect was arrested by police once they arrived on the scene.
A witness to the incident stated an individual was allegedly attempting to steal meat merchandise.

Hamilton resident Omar Abugalib has been charged with theft beneath $5,000, possession of a weapon for a harmful goal, three counts of assault with a weapon, assault with intent to withstand arrest and harmful operation of a motorcar.
Police say Abugalib was allegedly trying to steal quite a lot of grocery objects and tried to flee after being stopped by loss prevention officers at Fortinos, inflicting a automobile collision within the course of earlier than police arrived.
Two Fortinos staff and one civilian suffered minor accidents from the incident.
