The Workplace of the Ontario Hearth Marshal is investigating a suspected arson early Friday morning at a townhouse complicated below development in Burlington.

It’s the second suspected arson on the website following one other blaze that broke out on Aug. 2, 2023 and brought about about $3 million in damages.

“We did attend about a year ago, some suspicious fires in this complex as well,” Ryan Anderson with Halton police mentioned.

“Those are still under investigation.”

Friday’s blaze occurred shortly earlier than 6 a.m. on the property on Turnberry Highway close to Appleby Line and Dundas Road.

Roughly 27 firefighters arrived to smoke and flames, which they consider began on the primary flooring of one of many models.

Hearth crews say no accidents have been reported presently.

However, Anderson mentioned whereas there was nobody inside the impacted townhomes, there are folks dwelling in most of the surrounding models.

“When we have people who are intentionally setting fires to homes that are not yet built, they are attached to homes that are occupied by people, and they’re endangering the lives of people who are sleeping,” Anderson mentioned.

“We take it very seriously.”

The price of damages is estimated at $2 million.
