The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has revealed details about the largest human trafficking case in its history, following a 10-month investigation called Project Troubadour.
Nine suspects are facing a combined total of 85 charges in this extensive case, which also led to the seizure of luxury cars, illegal drugs, jewelry, and both Canadian and U. S. currency.
The investigation kicked off in September 2025 when a woman reported that she was being exploited by the suspects.
Halton Police Superintendent and District Commander David Costantini praised the alleged victim for her bravery in coming forward, which initiated this larger investigation.
He noted that the arrests made were only possible “thanks to her incredible courage.”
Working alongside Peel Regional Police and Ontario Provincial Police, as well as with support from the Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario (CISO), investigators identified several suspects and at least 12 victims who were allegedly “subjected to commercial sexual exploitation over an extended period of time.”
Costantini expressed concern that the 12 victims identified may be “just the tip of the iceberg in this case,” which remains active.
Authorities say the suspects used coercion, deception, manipulation, and psychological harm to control or influence their victims.
On July 13, 2026, officers executed 10 search warrants at different locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area and arrested nine individuals.
Police report that during these raids they seized:

The accused include Omar Brooks, 40, from Burlington (Alias Syph), Christian Collins, 31 from Milton (Alias Killah Da Crook, Cam), Michelle Dimarco, 33 from Burlington (Alias Coco, Ivy Love), Nicholas Bennett, 32 from Mississauga (Alias D-Boy Bennett, Benz), Merlyn Brooks, 74 from Burlington; Malinda Brooks, 45 from Burlington; Malisha Brooks; Johnathan Green ,40 from Toronto; and Jaidis Brooks-Reynolds ,26 from Mississauga (Alias J-Rip Severe , Drippy , JD). All are facing charges related to this investigation.

All those charged are currently held in custody awaiting their bail hearings in Milton.
